RE: Bad posts
>>Charles, I disagree wildly with your position. I get 300 mails a day and
I try to read and make sense of and answer any that ask for answers and
learn from the rest. I don't need any "I don't really know but maybe..."
posts unless the subject is extremely difficult and the guess comes from a
bona fide expert in the field.
In other words, if you don't know be quiet. Maybe no one knows, then
there will be no reply posted. Maybe someone knows and posts,... good!
But you do nothing to foster communications by posting a guess except in
fields where you are expert. OK?

With all due respect Dave, I disagree with you to a large extent. Granted
what makes this list special are all the people who have many, many years
of experience and scientific background, but this is a discussion forum,
not a ask the experts for an answer forum. I hate to see anyone afraid to
speak their opinions right or wrong, and this list can be quite intimada
ting. I dont think you realize how many people are on this list as passive
observers who are active participants on other forums. Any time I post a
question, I get many more responses privately from people who are afraid to
post here publically, than I do from the list. I think thats rather sad.
Those that start with the "I dont really know, but.." means please dont
yell at me!
