new tank cycing

I am returning to the Digest after an absence of several months and will be
setting up a new aquarium soon, bigger and hopefully more successful than
the last. So, hello and how you all doing?

In regards to the question on cycling at a new tank one thing I thought of
was possibly, and this is something that I may try when I set up my tank, is
to use daphnia to cycle the tank. It occurred to me that they would have a
positive effect on controlling any algae that are present in the tank to
start with, would cycle the tank and provide some tasty nibbles for the
first occupants.

I have a question myself; does anyone know what the difference between the
Fluval regular type of canister filter and the M S F Fluval filter is?
