Go ahead and place your CO2 bottle in any position that fits and is safe from getting knocked over. (you really dont want to get the valve or regulator knocked loose, it makes the tank a missle) CO2 is a vapor under pressure unlike say propane or butane which will remain in the liquid state under pressure.
