There is a company making filters they call "Algae Scrubbers" that are
effective in freshwater. If you are keeping fish only in a tank, then they
are great, but if you want plants to grow, then you need to use something
else. The filter ends up competing with the vascular plants for N,P, K, and
most of the trace elements. Not cool.
