MHD lights

I have a question about MHD lamps.  The set up consist of a ballast, 
capacitor and an igniter , them the actual bulb or lamp.  Do the 110v and 
220v systems use the same bulbs?  Does going thru all the ballast and stuff 
change the voltage or output to a set level making all the bulbs workable 
in 110v and 220v systems?

Does anyone out there know?

Also would 5000K MHD bulbs be sufficient for planted tanks if you had  a 
2-4 watt ratio?
