Thanks for clearing up the matter.

this is a very distinctive process, with the leaves dying back from the
tip to the base of the leaf along a V-shaped line centered at the central
vein."

I guess this MAY explain why I have new (but slow) growth while the old
leaves simply die away as they very gradually get clogged up with algae.
