A word of caution: Pyrophyllite often occurs naturally in formations that
also contain alum. For the insecticide diluent trade, the pH is adjusted,
through the amount of included alum, by selective mining. Some
iron-containing material is often added so the farmers doesn't think he's
being shorted on sulphur. :-) Makes it more tan than white. Check the pH of
some water with it added to avoid unpleasant surprises.
