I use the ADA (Amano) scintered glass diffuser (the smallest one, I forget the name they use). It works very well. I clean it approx. every 2 months. It does seem to collect brown "stuff" (algae & detritus?) which ruins the nice, small bubble size after awhile; that's how you know when to clean. Roxanne Bittman
