May I suggest the use of  - enamelled copper wire
which is used in electrical transformers. I built wire antennas with it
and the enamel has not cracked after 12 years in full sunlight. The only
exposed copper on the wire would be the cut ends. These could be
dabbed with a bit of nail polish to protect it from the water. Leaving
it exposed may not do much harm, it may provide trace copper.
The wire even 14 gauge is soft and pliable.

I cannot suggest where you might buy them in your countries. Here
we can buy second hand in shops that repair big electrical motors
or new at shops that specialize in wires.
