Fluval problem
charlie,
as someone who's had lots of experience with a recalcitrant fluval, i can tell
this:
the best way to start a fluval filter according to fluval is to suck through
the output tube creating a stream of water filling in the filter to the level
of the motor (top of filter). i have however used other methods. every time
i clean my filter, i restart it by filling it with the aquarium water to the
top (or as much as you can) before closing it and attaching to the valves,
then tilting it when you turn it on so that the water level is up to the
motor. you need to play with the filter by continuously tilting sideways
until all the air inside the filter is expelled through the outtake. hope
