It costs about almost $300 for Nitrate and Fe testkit(Lamotte).
It's not affordable for ordinary collage student(like me), but I think there would be a rule of thumb.
Assuming that there is a tank which has following datum.

100gallon water column.
Sufficient light(3-4W/gallon) and proper CO2 injection.
2tetras/gallon fish load.
about 1/2 tsp. fishfood a day.

Then how much Nitrate and Fe would you supply per week(by ppm.)?
and how much for your own tank?
