Not all African Lake Cichlids. Neolamprologus and Julidichromis species and
others from L. Tanganyika do not bother plants. It is the mbuna from Lake
Malawi that are the known grazers.

There are also some neotropical cichlids that are herbivores or omnivores
and will nibble.
