lights off

Hi all,

In my quest to rid my tank of beard algae, I have left the lights off
and also bleached several of the plants.  This seems to be
working--things do look better (all looks better in the dark, right?)
:)  My question is how long do I leave the lights off?  A couple days, a
week, or until all traces of algae are gone?
