Re: Water-flow
I have used a water return system in my tanks that I learned during my
reef tank days. To create even water flow:
-
I attach a length of clear hose (long enough to reach about an inch above
the gravel) to the water return tube on my magnums.
-
I then attach with a right angle fitting a length of 1/2" pvc drilled with
evenly spaced 1/16" holes to the clear rubber hose. The pvc is the length
of the tank.
-
I attach a much shorter intake tube to the magnum creating a quasi skimmer
box.
This seems to be very effective in creating even water flow and a current
that "turns over" the water in the tank. It also eliminates collection
spots for debris and waste.
