Subject: Plants in Pittsburgh

I am just starting to get into planted aquariums and I was wondering in
anybody could direct me to a good source for information in the Pitttsburgh
area. The few LFS that I get my fish don't seem to have a good plant
selection and don't seem to have the knowledge I am seaching for.

I noticed Bob was in the area. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Todd,

Your'e right, there isn't much to choose from around here. I've found 2
places locally that I'll buy plants from (cautiously), The first is in
Butler, 'Pets in the Park' at Moraine Point Plaza, the same plaza where
Walmart and Lowes is at. They have the largest selection, but be careful, a
lot of the plants they have are terrestrial and will not last long under
water (I found this out the hard way). The people there are friendly but,
if they are knowledgable about their plants, they hide it well.

The other is in Cranberry, 'Pet Supplies Plus' in the plaza where Walmart is
off of Rte 19 (not to be confused with the Walmart in Butler) they're across
the parking lot from Walmart. They don't have much of a selection, but
every once in a while, they get some nice stuff in, I bought 5 beautiful
Amazon Swords there for $1.50 each, you just have to get there at the right
time to get the good deals.

There's also an 'Elmers' in Monroville but I've never been there, heard it
was good but it's too far away. I was at 'Elmers' in North Hills before
they closed up, seemed to have some nice plants.

As far as information goes, just keep up with this list and you should be
fine.

BTW, I live about 5 or 6 miles north of you, in Penn Township near the
Butler Airport. I drive through Valencia every day on my way to work.
