I can tell you what I do, and tell you that it works. I'm sure other
people have other ways of guestimating! When figuring the approximate
number of tubes I'll want over a tank, I use the 3 w/g estimate based on NO
T-12's. Then I use the same number of comparable energy efficient T-8's.
