fish eating fertilizer

Ayala described fish eating fertilizer sticks recently. Please don't
leave the sticks on the surface of the substrate where the fish can get
at them and possibly poison themselves! Fish rely upon instinct when
deciding what is food and what is not; they are not able to distinguish
poisonous things; that's YOUR job.

I don't think a dozen otocinclus are too many for a 75 gallon aquarium
especially if its well lit and there is an abundance of soft algae
types. Its always wise to supplement their diets with things like
spirulina tablets or bits of zucchini ESPECIALLY when you first bring
them home from the store. They also eat flake food if it has a chance to
settle to the bottom before the other fish gobble it up.
