Yes, a hole-less container would work fine.  I grow all my Cryptocorynes and
other such plants in Rubbermaid "sweater boxes" under fluorescent lights   I
keep the individual plants potted, though, which makes maintenance much easer.
Even with "regular" houseplants I've never been overfond of planting several
things in one planter because then it's almost impossible to replace a single
plant without damaging the roots of the others.

Hint: if you go to the paint department at your hardware store you can buy
plastic windowbox liners, disguised as wallpaper trays, for about $1; these
same trays are $2-3 in the garden department!
