dead apponogetan ?

   I have been trying to save my appon. bou... something or other.. (long
ruffled leaves ) for several months now. When I fist put it in my
established ( 3 yrs ) 55 it dropped its leaves leaving a deep pit . It is
not decomposing yet , but I have cooled it off and it has not re sprouted
yet . Is it a goner ? Can some one help me , it was a $30 plant at a
Minnesota Aquarium Society auction .
