re- Tank re-setup

One more question: The tank that I'll be re-setting up has a very large Amazon sword, at least 2 feet long, too large for this tank but it will look better in the new 55. It started as a small potted plant from the LFS and grew to this size in the 8 months that its been in this tank with the laterite, CO2, and adequate lighting. I have read 'somewhere' that it is a good idea to cut or break the rhizome for continued growth. If this is true, now would be the time to do it while I'm moving it to the new tank. So, is this the case?, if upon uprooting the sword I find that it has a large rhizome should I cut it (in half) ?

Thanks,
Mark Shelton
