Fwd: iron and eggs

I thought weveryone might find this interesting. It was posted on the Apisto
mailing list. As most of us on this list are doing trace element
supplementation, has anyone noticed this reaction?

 Hi all,
I recently set up your basic, geographically incorrect community tank
in my living room. It's first and foremost a plant tank. I added a pair
of apisto cacatuoides Rio Ucayali and half a dozen Nanacara taenia, as
I have lots of young and am not worried about spawning these fish.
3 days ago, I added an iron supplement for my plants. The taenia have
gone from being a curious but drab fish to absolute striking coloration.
3 females spawned within hours of each other yesterday, as did the
cacatuoides. All of these fish, bar one pair of taenia, hadn't spawned
 in months.
A local plant guy once told me about Anomolochromis thomasi always
spawning after he'd added trace elements (his own secret formula..) for
 his plants.
Has anyone out there seen similar things?
 -Gary

ps - the fish are in tap water pH 7.4, 130 ppm.
