anaerobic substrate



In an old Aqua Planta issue, I found a little essay by C. Kasselmann in
which she discusses the
use of Lobelia cardinalis to combat anaerobic substrates.  If you find that
you have a patch of it 
(and it bothers you) simply plant a few sprigs of Lobelia in the offending
area, give them lots of light,
and soon the roots will rejuvenate the substrate.

BTW, I haven't tried this personally.
