One more point re: Riccia
According to Baench, there are two Riccia species - one that floats (R.
fluitans) and one that doesn't. (I can't remember the species name). On the
pictures in the book, both look identical.

I bet Amano uses the non-floater and simply attaches the clumps to rocks
and roots with the fishing line, the same way we attach java ferns or
anubias sp.

The million-dollar question is where to find the second species.
