Thanks to Mike Bateman for this insight:
The attachment files that have been being sent to the APD are messages
that a file that was part of the APD (or the entire digest) was read by
the recipient (who is also the "originator" of the mail to
aquatic-plants-owner [Moi]). It appears that something about the original
post (entitled "Chinese Algae Eaters") is interfacing with some of your
mailer software and a message is being sent to the APD that the mail was
read. The attachment looks like this:
To: Aquatic-Plants at actwin_com
Subject: Aquatic Plants Digest V2 #643
Sent: Fri, 11 Apr 1997 15:32:14 -0400
was read on Tue, 15 Apr 1997 06:01:29 -0400
The culprit software appears, in all cases, to be a Microsoft mailer.
Please check your configurations.
