I would like to pose a question to the list. I was, for some time, using tap water which had passed through a water softener to perform water changes on my tank. What affect would this have on the components of PMDD being added, on direct plant growth and on the propogation of algae. I'm not sure exactly what type of salt is most commonly used for softeners.
