I was in Wal-Mart and they had a card from GE explaining that the
National Energy Policy Act of 1992 required them to phase out some types
of bulbs.  It also had a chart showing the old bulbs and the suggested
new replacements. For the cool whites they had some replacements that
had a higher CRI, more lumens(3050 vs 3200) and a longer life. I bought
some of the suggested replacements ($5 for 2 after a $2 rebate) and so
far I am pleased with them.
