Winter shipping and gravel formula
George responding to a question about gravel weight.
> Area of substrate is 60" x 24" = 1440 in^2
> 3" depth -> 3 in x 1440 in^2 = 4320 in^3
> 4320 in^3 / 19 in^3/pound = 227 pounds
> 227 pounds x 2.2 kg/pound = 500 kg

That would be 2.2 lbs/kilogram.
I have no idea about the formula.......but,
227 pounds would be much closer to 100 kilograms. Maybe still an odd
Re: earlier posts about winter shipping: I had an order from TFP arrive
once with my liquid fertilizer frozen solid. Perhaps, 2nd day air is
treated differently. I know someone at UPS, and I'll try to find out.
