Subject: growing water weeds

Most people want to rid their ponds and waterways of weeds. I need
to grow them. The ones I need to grow either die, or refuse to multiply. I
have them in pond sediment and they are under growth lights for 1hours
a day. I have added a touch of "Miracle Grow" to the tanks (about ( 8 x
12"). As the water evaporates I add more distilled water. Yesterday, I
took about 1/2 of the water out and replaced it.
The plants I am attempting to grow are: parrot feather, 2 types of
green alge, duck weed, elodea waterweed, and arrow leaf.
Any hints, instructions, corrections, suggestions, etc. would be much
appreciated.
I am a retired food microbiologist and working as a technicion at EPA.
nank you,
