I dont think you should have added the bonemeal. Another problem may be
that your layer of sand is too thin, though some dont use any sand layer
at all. You shouldnt add any animal based materials into your soil ...
its the same as putting it in a backyard composter ... the smell is soon
overpowering.
Hopefully, in another 2 or 3 weeeks the snow will be gone and
you can put them outside, though with the kind of winter weve been having
I wouldnt count another snowstorm as out of the question.
