There are are two ICs available, an LM34 and an LM35.  One has an
output voltage corresponding to centigrade, the other fahrenheit (I
forget which is which).  They are packaged in an epoxy, three pin,
transistor style package.  After connecting the wires, seal the leads
and stick it in water.
