Lisa, 

The clown loaches I had were older and quite large at about 4".  They did
indeed shred the plants in the aquarium no matter what type.  Perhaps
starting with small ones will prevent this problem.  I'll also look into the
Paradise Fish option.  Sorry that fish are coming up when its supposed to be
about plates, but they are an integrated part of the aquarium closed system.
 I'd rather find a natural preditor for the snails than nuke 'em with
chemicals!
