Re: [APD] Filters for Planted Aquarium Without Fish

Hello, Vadira.

Aquarium filters can be set up to remove particulate matter from the water,
to perform biological conversion of waste products to less harmful
material, and/or to remove harmful chemicals. They also can create
currents that help to distribute nutrients throughout the tank.

One drawback to their use is that the turbulence that they create can drive
CO2 from the water.

A well-planted aquarium does not need a filter. The plants perform many of
the functions that a filter would perform. Many people with planted
aquariums to not use filters.

Good luck!

Bill
