[APD] need comments on rummage sale light fixture

I picked up the following light at a Church rummage sale today. I have never fooled with anything other than standard aquarium lights before. HYDROFARM SUPER GROW WING SERIES Miscellaneous Fixtures Suitable for damp areas. HYDROFARM GROW LIGHT USE ONLY 400 WATT HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM S51 TYPE LAMP 120 VOLTS 4.0 AMPS 60Hz There is a blower on the top, I assume for dissipating heat. There is an electrical cord for the blower. There is removable glass at the bottom. While dusty, it appears the unit has never been used before or has been used very little. The base of the unit is ~ 21” x 19 ½” If there is a model number on it, I can’t find it. It also came with the following bulb: Phillips CERAMALUX C400s51 2 400w 4 What it DIDN’T come with is whatever socket the bulb screws in to, cord and ballast. There is a hole in the back where it appears the socket and bulb would be attached. I'm going back tomorrow and see if it is laying around and I missed it. It is distributed by Applied Hydroponics, Inc. According to their web site, they don’t sell directly to the consumer. They have to dealers here in Indianapolis. My intentions are to use this above a freshwater planted aquarium, although it is wider than any aquariums I currently own. My questions: - What else do I need to make this work and about how much will it cost? Is it worth it? - Besides the two local dealers, where else should I check for parts and bulbs? - How far above the tank do I need to keep the fixture to keep it effective and not effect water temperature? - Should I use another type of bulb? (I have no idea if this one works). - How long should bulbs last? - Can I put glass covering the aquarium or should it be open? - And anything else I haven’t thought of yet. _http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=7310_ (http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=7310) sort of looks like mine _http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=7092_ (http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=7092) fan that sort of looks like mine _http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=1956_ (http://www.hydrofarm.com/pb_detail.php?itemid=1956) maybe this will work? Thanks in advance for your help.
