It could also be beard algae.  That has a very slimy feel.  It is quite hard
to get rid of (or, "Of it, it is hard to get rid" for purists). It's much
more difficult to get rid of than BGA.

I've read that an effective treatment is to remove the infected leaves or
plants and do water changes.  Repeat until the algae is gone.

Of course, the inbalance that caused the problem must be rectified or it
will return.  In addition to adding more CO2 (which is often cited as the
best way to correct all aquarium problems, including halitosis), I'd be sure
that the plants were growing well and that the nutrient levels weren't too
high.  Some might disagree with the second suggestion.
