Re: [APD] Clown loaches Plant Safe?

I have a pair of yoyos that are much bossier than any clowns I've ever owned. Admittedly, this is a very limited experience with yoyos. But I've had clowns for most of the decades that I've kept fish. For either the clowns or yoyos, their bossiness seems to be reserved to insisting on priority space at feeding time and keeping others away from their hiding spots, especially other loaches and other bottom fish. Both types of loach tend to be most active nocturnally, so that, too, eases any risks of bossiness.

10" is a good size for fully mature clown, but I've seem then get much large than that, closer to 16" with the girth of a man's forearm. Compare this to, for example the yoyos, which tend to top out around 6".

100% plant safe, aggressive and get to be about 10" long. For most
community tanks zebra loaches or Yoyo loaches are better choices. (Skunk
loaches, on the other hand, are much more aggressie.) If you have
semi-aggressive fish then clowns fit in fine, as long as you can keep a
school of 6 or more. (All loaches should be in schools of at least 6.)
