Ancistrus will graze but not harm swords, crypts, and the like if you do not have too many. 6" is about max. They are territorial with each other but not other fish -- well maybe loaches, but won't cause any actdual damage -- just assertive.

If you have more than one sex and there are any places to hide, they breed rather easily and you can end up with many more than you want.  IF you have too many, you won't be able to keep a sword looking decent due to the overgrazing.
