Someone called them pH probe condoms:-)

As far as the fouling, yes, anything transferring at the
microscale will foul rapidly.

How to solve this rather than give up?(you people, sheese)

Simple, take it out once a week and place in a solution of H2O2
and water for 15 minutes. Take your reading/s and place in a 
solution with a mild antimicrobial etc. 

Why does it have to stay in the tank forever?
Use the brain to solve and make things better.
There's no reason it needs to stay in the tank all the time.
You can clean probes and change membranes easily also.

It's cheap, accurate, small and addresses so many issues folks
have with CO2 determination.
