Re: [APD] long term solution to minor element problems

I urge you to read Diana Walsatd's excellent book, _Ecology of the Planted Aquarium_. It discusses the amount of nutrients in dirt and how long they will last in an aqaurium.

if you were to compost sea weed nearly all minor elements will be
available-----the resulting medium would be better than mud-----which
has had most of its nutrients leeched out as the rains and applied water
washed them toward the sea------that is why the sea is so filled with
salt-------and the dead sea has even a greater concentration of
salt------sea plants are better than sea salt as a provider of minor
elements-----reason---the algae rejects most of the salt during
metabolism an concentrates the minor elements in its tissues
