Re: [APD] Glue for tank brace

I believe aquarium-safe silicone is what's used with that type of bracing, but it needs to be allowed to fully cure for a couple of days, should be a continuous layer where the surfaces mate, including ends and face (depending on your particular arrangement.). Silcone is a low adhesion matieral but it remains flexible after curing, unlike expoxy, which has moderate adhesion to many suirfaces but is infexible after curing. You need a slightly flexible adhesive to resist the tension when the tank fills and slightly change shape.

Subject: [APD] Glue for tank brace

Can anyone advise me what sort of glue I should use to reattach a centre
tank brace that has fallen off?

I tried silicon, assuming this might have been used originally but after
refilling the tank 2/3 of the way the brace has come away from the sides of
the tank a couple of millimetres on either end so it seems something
stronger must have been used.

The brace sits on two ledges of glass about 4mm wide.

This tank, even though it is only 25 gallons, definitely needs a brace. The
glass bows alarmingly without one.

Thanks.
