Thanks for your reply. Will try the "Blackout" method & see what happens.
Are you sure that I should switch off the CO2 during the blackout stage? I
do dose Potassium in the form of KNO3.

Hair algae responds well to a blackout. Do a large water change and remove
as much of the hair algae as you can. Dose nutrients at the usual level.
Then completely cover your tank with blankets or whatever so that no light
can get in. Turn off your CO2!!! Leave then tank covered for 4 days - the
fish will be fine without food for that amount of time. After 4 days uncover
the tank - the hair algae will be gone! Do another large water change - 50%
or more. Do you dose potassium?
