My 5g tank has veryfine sand that came from a muddy pile, i rinced it once
then used it, its full of small clay chunks and soil clumps.  i have never
had plants grow as well as they do in this tank, everything grows so fast i
need to prune every second day at least. its only got 15W light and no co2.
the sand seems to keep loose and has never really compacted, i do have MTS
so this might be the reason
my 25g tank has what what we get localy for mixing with concrete and this
works good as well i have it in my angel tank and the plants grow very well
in this as well but it doesnt compare with the fine sand in the 5g tank.
