I have three 96W PC lamps inside the hood over my 90 gallon. The ballasts 
are mounted outside the hood. I installed one of these fans pointed 
straight up, and it is the single most effective method I've tried to 
reduce heat.

Before, I'd relied on simple convection, but the active fan makes a huge 
difference. It probably helps that I have a large opening (6"x6") in the 
back of the hood for an intake. Evaporation loss does go up.
