If you can't afford a pressurized CO2 system, don't let that keep you away
from the planted aquarium hobby.

When I started I was like you.  I couldn't afford CO2 but I just jumped into
it, so to speak, and I was able to maintain handsome planted aquatic
environments with healthy plants and happy fish.   Several decades have
passed, and I still don't use injected CO2.
