Re: [APD] Java Fern

Hey folks, just wanted to get my $0.02 usd in on this java fern subject.

I have noticed thru contact with friends in the hobby that the key for
java fern (as well as bolbitus spp) seems to be cooler water. I have
several friends in the area who are native keepers and can grow HUGE
java and Bolbitus in as short a time as 2-3 months - their wintering
cycle for their native tanks.

Temps down in the low 50's and upper 40's - yes i know its not
practical for most of us but thats beside the point - seem to be the
key to this kind of growth speed. (Qualifier: These were grown in low
light (Sub 1wpg) no fert, no tech tanks and they go nuts) and there's
still multiple leaf growth per plant (1 every 5-7 days) and the size is
AMAZING (most around 12" high).

Just some things i've ovserved.
