Re: [APD] Attorney's fees

Just for the record, winning a civil judgment in Minnesota does not
automatically award you attorney's fees. In fact, they seldom are part of a
judgment, making any sort of suit, other than one taken by the attorney on
contingency, potentially quite expensive. I know, as I had a dispute with a
past business partner and although I won, it cost me thousands in legal
fees. The only conciliation I had was that it cost the other party about
twice what it cost me - I had a better attorney. But sort of a Pyrrhic
victory, nonetheless.

And furthermore, winning a civil judgment is one thing, collecting on it is
something entirely different. As several others have said, often the party
with the deeper pockets prevails, not necessarily that whom is right....

So, how about those aquatic plants......?

It would be very unusual for the victor in a civil case not to receive legal
fees ... in the United States. Of course, settling the case throws
everything out.
