There was just a discussion on the Killietalk list about certain brands of 
10 gal tanks using tempered for the sides. Someone found the hard way while 
drilling, that 3 tanks purchased at a chain store had tempered sides. I 
think PetSmart. Don't remember though. And large tanks do use tempered on 
the bottom. If the tank is an All-Glass, there will be a tag on the bottom 
pane stating so.
