As much as I know, the difference between European an American metal halides 
are the sockets and the wattages. In Europe and Latin America we use double 
contact lamps. They look as the following:

In America the standard metal halide lamp has a socket similar to a standard 
incandescent lamp. Wattage in both cases is different, so ballast will not 
be the same.

In the page you post in your last message, I assume the difference is the 
lamp origin (made in USA or made in Germany), but the socket and wattage are 
compatible.
