[APD] RE: Water changes, CO2 tanks, and non CO2 tanks

Tom Barr wrote, in part:

"This is why you don't do water
changes on a non CO2 planted tank => plants(and algae) get acclimated to
low CO2. Doing frequent water changes is counter productive on a non CO2
tank.It helps the algae initially as the CO2 levels bob up and down each
week."

Then this warning would not apply to those of us who age all of our make-up
water with heating and circulation prior to use, for clearance of chlorine
and other gas/pH equilibration. Are there other factors in your suggestion
for fewer changes in non-CO2 tanks, or is that the only or at least the
primary?

Thanks,

Robert
