RE: [APD] Warning on 13W Globe brand screw in fluorescent light bulbs

Subject: [APD] Warning on 13W Globe brand screw in fluorescent light
bulbs

The local (to me) newspaper [1] has a story about a local firefighter who
had a 13W
Globe brand screw in fluoprescent light bulb erupt into smoke. There is a
warning
from Health Canada about them:

The scary part is the bulb that erupted is one of the "safe" ones, that is,
it was
made after the dates provided by Health Canada which are supposed to
indicate the
unsafe ones.

Another reason to stick to the big names (GE, Philips) for these sorts of
things.

[1] You know you live in a small town when everybody reads the newspaper to
see
if they got the story right.

this information about these bulbs has been out there for months. Every
store that sells Globe bulbs has a notification out about them and a recall
notice about checking for a particular model. The newer 13 w Globes are not
effected.
