As far as I know, the CO2 tank should always be upright.  The CO2 in the
tank is not stored as a gas but is actually a liquid so laying it on its
side risks getting liquid CO2 into the regulator...

For space reasons, it would be a better arrangment for me if I could lay my 
CO2 tank on its side.  Will it still work properly?   Is it safe?  Thanks.
